Who we are
MM Consultancy Pty Ltd is a firm of Chartered Accountants based at Level 17, 1 Denison Street, North Sydney NSW 2060. We provide SMSF compliance and property investor tax services. This policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information, and how we comply with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Information we collect
To provide accounting and taxation services we collect information such as your name, contact details, tax file number, date of birth, income and expense records, bank and investment details, superannuation fund records, and property ownership and settlement documents. We collect this information directly from you, and where you authorise it, from the Australian Taxation Office, your superannuation fund, your financial institutions, and other advisers acting for you.
How we use your information
We use your information to prepare and lodge tax returns and financial statements, coordinate independent SMSF audits, meet our obligations to the ATO and other regulators, provide advice you have asked for, and communicate with you about your affairs. We do not use your information for marketing without your consent.
Disclosure to third parties
We disclose personal information only where it is necessary to deliver our services or where the law requires it. This may include the Australian Taxation Office, your appointed SMSF auditor, ASIC, your financial adviser or mortgage broker where you have authorised contact, and our professional software and IT providers. Where a provider stores data outside Australia, we take reasonable steps to ensure they handle your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Data security
We hold information in secure practice management and document systems with access limited to those who need it. Records are retained for the periods required under taxation and superannuation law, and are securely destroyed or de-identified once no longer required.

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct anything inaccurate or out of date. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable period. In limited circumstances we may decline access, in which case we will explain why in writing.
